Shirley J. Horlacher
SPARTA — Shirley J. Horlacher, 66, of Sparta died Monday, April 18, 2005, at Knox Community Hospital, Mount Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil “Red” Pruet.

She is survived by her husband, Cary L. Horlacher; a son, George (Kathi) Horlacher of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her mother, Monna Pruet of Sparta; sisters, Mary (Buddy) Lloyd of Chesterville and Sue Craig of Centerburg; brothers, Steve (Linda) Pruet of Chesterville and Stanley Pruet of Columbus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home, 49 W. Church St., Centerburg. The Rev. Carl Hankins will officiate. Interment will be in Bloomfield Cemetery.

Friends, if they wish, may contribute to the American Cancer Society.

Beatrice ‘Betty’ Kochis
MOUNT VERNON — Beatrice Marie “Betty” Kochis, 82, of Eastgate Drive, Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2005, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

She was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Mount Vernon to Clarence and Iva (Chester) Kinnard and had been a Knox County resident all of her life. Betty was employed as a clerk at the Buckeye Mart and Heckler Drugs in Mount Vernon. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and AARP. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bingo, and outdoors and sewing.

She is survived by her son, Brent (Tami) Kochis of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Marilyn (Cliff) Durbin and Carolyn (James) Giffin, both of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Duane “Red” (Ann) Kinnard of Newark; and a sister-in-law, Anna Kinnard.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Kochis; a granddaughter, Michelle Gantt; a great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Marjorie (Bill) Crowley and Dorothy Kinnard; and four brothers, Donald Kinnard, Harold “Dale” Kinnard, Lorin “Bob” Kinnard and Glenn “Jack” (Phyllis) Kinnard.

Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jamie Gump will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.

MOUNT VERNON — Elvi Nyman Laslo, 84, of Mount Vernon passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Snyder Funeral Homes, Mount Vernon.

Rolland E. Leas
COSHOCTON — Rolland Earl Leas, 87, of 125 S. 15th St., Coshocton, died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at the Coshocton County Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be Thursday, April 21, at 1 p.m. in the Fischer Funeral Home, Warsaw, with the Rev. Wilbur Beaver officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday until service time.

John A. Raubenolt
FREDERICKTOWN — John A. Raubenolt, 79, of Fredericktown died Monday, April 18, 2005, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown.
