Joseph E. Denman
JOHNSTOWN — Joseph Earl Denman of Johnstown passed away April 8, 2005, at the Northview Senior Living Center, Johnstown.

Joe was born July 17, 1926, in Johnstown, to Joseph and Mary (Rowe) Denman. He was a 1944 graduate of Johnstown-Monroe High School, where he was an outstanding athlete in football, basketball and baseball in the early 1940s. He is in the Johnstown Athletic Hall of Fame, member of IBEW Local 71 at Columbus, and known as “Big Joe” to friends and fellow union workers.

He is survived by his brother, Tom Denman of Johnstown; nieces and nephews, Debbie (Paul) Westbrock and David (Patricia) Denman, both of Dublin, Susan (Mike) Ellis of Valrico, Fla., Tim (Jaquie) Denman of Johnstown; and many great-nieces and great-nephews; special aunt, Marie Rowe of Merritt Island, Fla.; many dear cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy A. (Denman) Bevington.

There will be a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial on Wednesday at the Church of the Ascension, 276 S. Main St., Johnstown, with the Rev. Reichert as celebrant. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Crouse-Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown.

Floyd Elswick Jr.
HOWARD — Floyd Elswick Jr., 80, of Howard died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at his residence following a short illness. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Snyder Funeral Homes in Mount Vernon.

MARTINSBURG — Charles E. Glancy, 92, of Martinsburg died April 10, 2005, at Knox Community Hospital. The Harris-Dilley Funeral Home in Bladensburg is in charge of the arrangements.

Kirby D. Helmick
BUTLER — Kirby D. Helmick of 21805 Syler Road, Butler, died Saturday, April 9, 2005, from injuries received when his ultralight aircraft crashed near Butler. Ina Jo Norton
WHEELING, W.Va. — Ina Jo (Wheeler) Norton, 83, of North 17th Street, Warwood, Wheeling, W.Va., died Saturday, April 9, 2005, in the Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Wheeling.

Ina was born Nov. 25, 1921, in Danville, Ohio, the daughter of John and Josephine (Hurst) Wheeler. She was a member of Warwood Christian Church.

She is survived by three sons, Donald W. (Dollie) Norton of Thomson, Ga., Thomas E. Norton and William R. Norton, both of Warwood; three grandchildren, Donald F. (Karen) Norton, Melinda R. (Mikhail) Britt and Megan E. (John) Lott, all of Atlanta, Ga.; and three great-grandchildren, Kevin A. Norton, Jackson W. Britt and Benjamin T. Norton.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Norton; and a son, Jack W. Norton.

Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Ave., Warwood, Wheeling, where services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Roger Murfin will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
