David ‘Fritz’ Bistline
CENTERBURG — David Frederick “Fritz” Bistline, 92, passed away
peacefully at his home in Centerburg on March 31, 2005.
He was born Aug. 3, 1912, in West Unity, Ohio, to Chester and Ada Bistline. David graduated from Kunkle High School and Bowling Green State University. His first teaching job was in Seville. He taught in the Akron City Schools from 1942 to 1972. Most of his teaching career was at Garfield High School, where he taught industrial arts and coached the rifle club. He and his wife, Florence, were active in the Lockwood United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He resided at Pin Oak Point in the Portage Lakes and served several terms as president of the owners association.
After retirement the Bistlines moved to Satsuma, Fla., later returning to Kirkersville and then Centerburg. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing and gardening. In his later years he particularly enjoyed sketching and playing the organ.
He is survived by his two sisters, Margaret Driftmyer of Bay Village and Mildred Bernath of Fort Myers, Fla.; his daughter, Mary Lou Wiard; and grandchildren, Ann, Ashley and Martin Wiard.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Florence Bistline.
A graveside service will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. in the Westfield Center Cemetery, Westfield Center, Ohio. The Rev. Gary Pollock will officiate. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. The Moreland Funeral Home, Centerburg, assisted the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers friends may wish to make a contribution to the Hospice program in their area or to the memorial fund of the Centerburg United Methodist Church.
Ruth L. Lowery
WARSAW — Ruth Louise Lowery, 83, of 206 E. Main St., Apartment 24, Warsaw,
died Thursday, March 31, 2005, at the Coshocton County Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 13, 1921, in Coshocton to Lulu (Sandy) and Walter Wilson.
Funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with the Rev. Philip Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and until service time on Monday.
