Forrest Antill Sr.
MOUNT VERNON — Forrest D. Antill Sr., 79, of Mount Vernon died March 2, 2005, at the Knox Community Hospital.

He was born March 29, 1925, in Cutler to Forrest G. and Gladys (Mathers) Antill. He was a member of the Dutch Run Trinity Church of Christ in Coshocton County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he received a Bronze Star Medal for injuries incurred during the war. He was also a member of the VFW, AMVETS, National Rifle Association and the Last Man’s Club.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah L. (Stinson) Antill, whom he married June 11, 1946; a grandson, Barry L. Antill Jr. of Fredericktown; a brother, Charles F. Antill of Mount Vernon; and one sister, Faye Brooks of Mount Vernon.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester F. and Foster R. Antill; and a sister, Frances G. Peck.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be Wednesday, March 9, at 1:30 p.m. in the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Wayne Harman officiating. A military service will be conducted by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council. The North-Dilley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

George Bradfield Jr.
LOS ANGELES — George Clarence Bradfield Jr. was born on Sept. 22, 1915, in Denver, Colo. He was the son of the late George Clarence Bradfield Sr. and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Bradfield (nee Harris), of Detroit, Mich.; and the grandson of Joseph Cyrus Bradfield and his wife, Elizabeth Williams, of Mount Vernon, Ohio. George Jr. was educated in the Detroit Public Schools. In his youth, he was very active in theater and drama circles in the city, attending Wayne University and later, Columbia University in New York City.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, George returned to Detroit after World War II and spent his career at Ford Motor Co. George, always fond of literature and the arts, wrote several fiction and biographical sketches. He had a hearty laugh, loved life, a good cup of coffee, and before recent illness, enjoyed frequent visits to the racetrack.

A loving and concerned husband, father and grandfather, George Clarence Bradfield Jr., left this life on Feb. 17, 2005. His sister, Gwendolyn, passed away 10 days after his sudden demise.

Brothers Horace F. Bradfield, M.D., and Roy Joseph Bradfield preceded him in death. George is survived by his wife, Kathy, and daughters, Lena Bullock of Los Angeles, and Blair Bradfield of Atlanta; grandsons, Bradley, Brian, Brandon and Brett Bullock; as well as several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his sister, Yolande B. Davenport (Clarence) of Bethesda, Md.; niece, Ambassador Elizabeth Davenport McKune; nephews, Stephen Roy Davenport, M.D., and Richard George Davenport; niece, Trudy Bradfield Taliaferro; and nephew, Judge David Martin Bradfield; and a host of grandnieces and nephews.

A remembrance of life service in honor of both George and his sister, Gwendolyn, will be held on Monday, March 7, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Interment for Gwendolyn will follow in Mound View Cemetery.

Gwendolyn Marie Bradfield-Cosey
LOS ANGELES — Gwendolyn Marie Bradfield-Cosey was born Nov. 3, 1923, in Detroit, Mich., to George Clarence Bradfield Sr. and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Harris, of Detroit. She was the granddaughter of Joseph C. Bradfield and his wife, Elizabeth Williams, of Mount Vernon, Ohio. She was the fourth of five children. Gwen graduated from Talladega College and received her master’s in Social Work from the University of Michigan. In the 1950s, Gwen moved to Los Angeles and embarked on a 35-year career in medical social work with the Los Angeles County Health System.

A loving daughter and sister, Gwen took care of her ailing parents in Los Angeles until their deaths. Her home was forever open to nieces and nephews who could always count on her for good counsel and loving care. Until illness intervened, Gwen was an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and the Church of Christian Fellowship, a congregational ministry, in Los Angeles.

A global traveler, Gwen visited more than a dozen countries and ports of call in her lifetime. She recounted each adventure in detail, sharing stories with relatives and friends.

Gwendolyn Marie Bradfield-Cosey, a generous, kind and loving sister and aunt, passed away on Feb. 27, 2005, in Los Angeles at Kaiser Sunset Hospital, just 10 days after her brother, George Clarence Bradfield Jr.

LeMoyne Humbert
HOWARD — LeMoyne Humbert, 90, of Coshocton Road, Howard, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Country Court in Mount Vernon.

He was born May 13, 1914, in Knox County to Harry F. and Josephine (Traum) Humbert. On Oct. 31, 1944, he was married to Phyllis (Petry). He served in the Army from 1941-45 during World War II and was an elder and longtime member of the Millwood Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; a daughter, Josey (Stephen) Sabo of Fayetteville, Ark.; a grandson, David Sabo; a granddaughter, Avril Sabo; and four nieces, Mary Jo Arnold of Washington Courthouse, Gloria Doench of Vandilla, and June Wise and JoAn Losey of Davenport, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Arthur, Robert and Leslie Humbert.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Millwood Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Doug Sweet will officiate. Burial, with graveside military rites conducted by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will be in Millwood Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville.
