Helen E. Earl
MOUNT VERNON — Helen Edith Earl, 91, of East Chestnut Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home.

John E. Hamilton
MOUNT VERNON — John E. Hamilton, 76, of Mount Vernon died Feb. 1, 2005, at Knox Community Hospital.

He was born Aug. 22, 1928, in Mount Vernon to Frank and Ada (Williams) Hamilton. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry for several years. He was an Army veteran from 1948 to 1951, serving in Japan and Korea. He retired from Cooper Energy Services after 47 years of service as the general supervisor of manufacturing for the Superior Compressor Plant. He served as the Knox County Civil Defense director during the 1959 flood. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the VFW Post 4027 where he served as quarter master and commander and was a life member.

John was a member and past master of Mount Zion Lodge 9 F&AM, Aladdin Temple Shrine, Baldwin Shrine Club, Valley of Columbus Scottish Rite and was serving as the Knox and Coshocton County director for the Scottish Rite. He served on the board of trustees of The Station Break, also on the board of trustees of the Area Agency on Aging for Area 5, representing the Knox County Commissioners.

He is survived by his wife, Jean (Ransom) Hamilton, to whom he had been married eight years; stepdaughter, Rhonda Ransom; two stepgrandchildren, Michaela and Moriah; brother-in-law, Paul (Janet) Johns of Marysville; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Phebe V. (Johns) Hamilton, his wife of 39 years; brother, Robert; sister, Mary Ellen; and two half brothers, Paul Gaylord and Kenneth Fry.

Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the North-Dilley Funeral Home, where there will be a Masonic service following at 8 p.m. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Stephen Williamson officiating. Burial, with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will be in Mound View Cemetery.

Eva Jane Huston
MOUNT VERNON — Eva Jane Huston, 94, a resident of the Country Club Retirement Campus, formerly of Danville, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville is in charge of the arrangements.

Brent Jones
MOUNT VERNON — Brent Jones, 21, of Mount Vernon passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at the Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland. Funeral services will be under the care and direction of the Snyder Funeral Homes in Mount Vernon.

Ernest L. McMinn Memorial notice
CHILLICOTHE — A memorial service for Ernest Lee McMinn, 56, of Chillicothe, who died Dec. 26, 2004, will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the North Liberty United Methodist Church. Pastor Brent Miller will officiate.

Marvine Mowery
MOUNT VERNON — Marvine Mowery, 82, of Mount Vernon passed away Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at the Knox Community Hospital. The funeral arrangements will be under the care and direction of the Snyder Funeral Homes, Mount Vernon.
