Richard ‘Rick’ Daum
TULSA, Okla. — Richard “Rick” Daum, 47, formerly of Mount Vernon,
died unexpectedly on Oct. 12, 2004, in Tulsa, Okla.
He was born April 18, 1957, in Bossier City, La., to Claude and Fern Daum.
He is survived by his children, Benjamin Metcalfe, Brittney Metcalfe-Daum, Braylyn Metcalfe-Daum, Michael Daum, Nadine Daum and Amos Warnock.
A graveside service, followed by interment, will take place Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in Cashatta, La., in the family’s private cemetery.

Elaine L. Greig
MOUNT VERNON — Elaine L. Greig, 74, of Mount Vernon died Oct. 13, 2004,
at Mount Carmel/St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville.
She was born Oct. 7, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., to Elmer and Hilda (Anderson) Rosen. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mount Vernon Country Club, Town and Country Garden Club, BPO Elks and the Gamma Psi Chapter of E.S.A. Sorority.
She is survived by one daughter, Shelley (David) Rothenberg of Westfield, N.J.; and three granddaughters Chloe, Alexa and Hope Rothenberg of Westfield, N.J.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Greig Jr., in 2000.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at the North-Dilley Funeral Home.

Harold G. Ratliff
MOUNT VERNON — Harold G. Ratliff, 73, of Mount Vernon passed away Oct. 12,
2004, at his home.
He was born July 30, 1931, to Clark and Maudie (Blevins) Ratliff. His trade was masonry and he was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by a son, Harold (Judy) Ratliff Jr. of Sunbury; daughters, Cathy (Carl) Faught and Diane Ratliff, both of Mount Vernon; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Bosart of Mount Vernon and Fran (Preston) Fettrow of Irvine, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved and will be sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Marie; a brother, Earl Ratliff; and sisters, Alice Sartin and Kathleen Rice.
Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home, 49 W. Church St., Centerburg, where service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Brother Philip McMurrin will officiate. Interment will be in Eastview Cemetery.
Alice (Wolf) Van Sant
MOUNT VERNON — Alice (Wolf) Van Sant, 89, formerly of Toledo and Bellefontaine,
passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.
She was a 1933 graduate of Woodward High School in Toledo. Alice worked at the former Lathams Nursing Home in Bellefontaine and was a 58-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 576, in Toledo.
Survivors include her son, Howard (Pat) Wolf of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Nancy Babcock of Longmont, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wolf; and her son, Robert Wolf.
Graveside service will be Saturday at noon in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. The Rev. Michael O. Brown will officiate.
