Brian S. Conkle
MOUNT VERNON — Brian Scott Conkle, 35, of Seventh Avenue, Mount Vernon, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at his home.

He was born on April 16, 1969, in Mount Vernon to Larry Conkle and Barbara (Staats) Snow. Brian was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and was employed here locally at Ver-Mac Industries. He was an avid outdoors enthusiast, and loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Snow of Mount Vernon; a brother, Robert Snow of Mount Vernon; a sister Tammy (Wayne) Sprayberry of Mount Vernon; a niece, Samantha Snow; a nephew, Zechariah Sprayberry; his stepfather, Jim Snow of Mount Vernon; grandmother, Grace Riley of Mount Vernon; and two stepbrothers, Jason and Joe Snow, both of Newark.

His father, Larry Conkle, preceded Brian in death.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, where funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. Pastor G. William Harding will officiate.

Richard E. Herndon
MOUNT VERNON — Richard Eugene Herndon, 72, of McKinley Avenue, Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at Knox Community Hospital.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, Oct. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kokosing Elks Lodge 1085 IEPOE of 1220 W. Gambier St.

Florence E. Kriner
MOUNT VERNON — Florence E. Kriner, 95, of Mount Vernon died Oct. 3, 2004, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon.

She was born April 16, 1909, in DuBois, Pa., to James O. and Eva (Johnston) Lenkerd. She was a charter member of the Seventh-Day Adventist City Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Loretta J. Priest of Mount Vernon and J. Joan Weseman of Boise, Idaho; one son, James A. Kriner of Mount Vernon; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene E. Kriner, in 1991; a daughter, Norma Vail, in 2004; one brother; and two sisters.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Salem Cemetery near DuBois, Pa. The North-Dilley Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is in charge of arrangements.

Donna Ross
SUNBURY — Donna “Sunshine” Ross, 63, of Sunbury died unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at Grady Memorial Hospital.

She was born July 6, 1941, in Mount Vernon to Herbert and Dortha (White) Dudgeon. She was a homemaker and also worked as a credit supervisor at National City Bank in Columbus and at Ashland Chemical Co. in Dublin. Donna attended the First Baptist Church of Sunbury. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Jim Ross; a daughter, Shellie (Dan) McKenzie of Sunbury; a son, Steve (Lynn) Ross of Centerburg; grandchildren, Kahrman, Kylie, Courtney, Chloe and Heather; sisters, Jackie (Ed) McKee of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Joyce Jones of Florida; also many family and friends.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury, where funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Sunbury Memorial Park.
