Forrest H. Burch
WARSAW — Forrest Herbert Burch, 79, of 35160 County Road 99, Warsaw, died Aug. 11, 2004, at the Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon.

He was born Jan. 26, 1925, in Coshocton County to Hobert and Twila (Neldon) Burch. He was a retired farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Justine V. (Ferry) Burch, whom he married Sept. 23, 1966. Also surviving are three stepdaughters, Justine Kohler and Susan Daliere of Coshocton and Shirley Warren of Warsaw; a stepson, Hayden Daliere of Walhonding; six stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Ollidean Ridenbaugh of Warsaw.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Stella; and two brothers, Earl and Harold.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside service will be Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Valley View Cemetery in Warsaw with Pastor Sharon Kirch officiating. The Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw is handling the arrangements.

Crystal Ann Dixon
CENTERBURG — Crystal Ann (Jewell) Dixon, 44, of Centerburg died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville.

She was born Feb. 13, 1960, in Columbus. She was a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Anthony Dixon Sr.; sons, Joseph Anthony Dixon and Mark Anthony Dixon Jr.; a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Dixon (Robert) Raynard Jr.; grandchildren, Gabrielle Lynn Gardner, Mitchell James and Kyle Steven Raynard, and Morgan Marie and Haley Nicole Dixon; her parents, Albert and Virginia Jewell Sr.; brother, Albert Jewell Jr.; sisters, Judy (Jewell) Fulk, Debbie Jewell and Patty (Jewell) Sheets; five nieces; and four nephews.

Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home, 49 W. Church St., Centerburg, where funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. Pastor Marvin Gassman will officiate. Interment will be in Eastview Cemetery.

John B. Donofrio
HOWARD — John B. Donofrio, 64, of Howard died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was born July 26, 1940, in Cambridge, Mass., and was employed as a driver for DTF Trucking with Dana Corp. He was retired from Teamsters Local 25 in Cambridge, Mass. He was a member and past-exhaled Ruler of the Elks Lodge and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Cambridge.

Surviving are his wife, Evva (Sickler) Donofrio; his mother, Alma (Crivello) Donofrio Alexander of Marlboro, Mass.; sons, John B. (Vicki Korovillas) Donofrio Jr. of Medford, Mass., Joseph A. (Romie) Donofrio of North Andover, Mass., Kevin A. (Christine) Donofrio of Reading, Mass., Greg Ricketson of Casselberry, Fla., Shawn (Kathleen) Ricketson of Hemet, Calif., Jamie (Deb) Swartz of St. Joe, Mo., Jyson Swartz of Hiawatha, Kan., and Curt Swartz of San Diego, Calif.; daughters, Francine (Joey) Piwinski of Malden, Mass., Doreen R. (Patrick) O’Shea of Fall River, Mass., Kathleen (Joseph) Barboza of Ayer, Mass., Christine (Joel) Burke of Cambridge, Mass., Charlene (Patrick) Skelly of Rocky Hill, Conn., Evva (Randy) Mayfield and Hope (David) Law, both of Hiawatha, Kan., Amanda (Travis) Thomas and Ashley (Phil) Hicks, both of Mount Vernon; 39 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Edmund Donofrio of Cambridge, Mass.; and two sisters, Virginia Kapp of Falmouth, Mass., and Nancy Greenberg of Boston, Mass.

He was preceded in death by his father, John A. Donofrio; and his stepfather, Alex Alexander.

Friends may call today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon where a Christian Wake Service will follow at 7 p.m. A Mass of resurrection and burial will be in Cambridge, Mass., on Monday.

MOUNT VERNON — Harold Paul Duston, 82, of Mount Vernon passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at the Whispering Hills Care Center. Funeral arrangements will be through the care and direction of Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Vernon.

FORT MYERS, Fla. — James G. Hughes, 88, of Fort Myers, Fla., died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at the Hospice of Cape Coral in Cape Coral, Fla. Arrangements are in the care and direction of the Snyder Funeral Homes of Mount Vernon.

MOUNT VERNON — Larry Kitchen, 69, of Mount Vernon died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. Arrangements are through the care and direction of Snyder Funeral Homes in Mount Vernon.

Neva B. Schuller
MOUNT VERNON — Neva B. Schuller, 85, of Mount Vernon died Thursday morning, Aug. 12, 2004, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon. The North-Dilley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Betty E. Spearman
MILLWOOD — Betty E. Spearman, 80, of Millwood died peacefully Aug. 10, 2004, at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus following a long illness.

Betty was born Aug. 17, 1923, to Jim and Buelah (Bartrum) Lautenschlager in Creston. During World War II she was a gas station attendant at Norris Pure Oil. She later worked as credit manager for Montgomery Ward in Mount Vernon. Betty married Wendell Spearman in 1947. In 1955, they bought the Sohio gas station in Millwood which became the well-known Spearman’s Restaurant. What Betty enjoyed most about working in the restaurant business for 49 years was visiting with the customers. Some customers’ families have been eating at Spearman’s for five generations. Summer campers returned year after year for a taste of her homemade cream pies, peanut butter banana salad and Sunday chicken dinners. She served on the Knox County Vocational Center Board of Directors. She was a lifetime member of the Knox County Kennel Club and the Knox County Humane Society. She was the former treasurer and active member of the Millwood Presbyterian Church. She was loved and respected by the entire community for her generosity and willingness to help anyone in need.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Wendell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville with the Rev. Beth Braaksma officiating. Burial will be in Workman Cemetery in Danville. Visitation is one hour prior to the service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knox County Humane Society, 400 Columbus Road, Mount Vernon 43050; or the Millwood Presbyterian Church, c/o Robert Longfellow, 10050 Pipesville Road, Gambier 43022.
