Arlene Blacksten
MOUNT VERNON — Arlene M. (Farley) Blacksten, 59, of Mount Vernon died June 20, 2004, at her residence.

She was born July 7, 1944, at Newark to Harold F. and Martha E. (Wildenthaler) Farley.

She is survived by sons, Richard E. Ryan of Danville and Chad A. Blacksten of Mount Vernon; daughter, Christine Scarbury of Mount Vernon; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her mother of Utica; a brother, William Farley of Millersport; and a sister, Nellie Wright of Utica.

She was preceded in death by her father; and brothers, Frank E. and Lester O. Farley.

Graveside service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Homer Cemetery. Mr. Bruce Hissong will officiate. The Law-Baker Funeral Home, Utica, is in charge of arrangements.

Nina J. Hodge
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Nina Jeanette Hodge died Saturday, June 19, 2004, in Jacksonville, Fla. She was a longtime resident of Mount Vernon.

Nina was born in Hancock County, Ohio, on Sept. 11, 1928, to Gale G. and Carrie B. (Garling) Oldham.

She is survived by her husband, Robert D. Hodge; a daughter, Pamela (Peter) Fleming of Jacksonville, Fla.; five sisters, Ruth Merrill of California, Esther Oldham of Colorado, Mirian (Dan) Mellish of Oregon, Thelma (Barry) Burton of Colorado, Grace (Ted) Green of Colorado; a brother, Harold (Esther) Oldham of Colorado.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lola Butler and Helen Greer; and a brother, George Oldham.

The family is at the Hodge residence, 2960 Majestic Oaks Lane, Green Cove Springs, Fla. 32043.

Private funeral will be held at a later date in Jacksonville, Fla.

Marguerite Payne
MOUNT VERNON — Marguerite Payne, 95, of Mount Vernon died June 22, 2004, at Mount Carmel Hospital East, Columbus. The North-Dilley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Fred J. Rubeck
TIFFIN — Fred J. Rubeck, 53, of 7325 South Township Road 131, of Walnut Grove Campground, Tiffin, died Monday, June 21, 2004, due to an accident at the campground.

He was born July 13, 1950, at Kenton to Albert Henry and Mary Rose (Gephart) Rubeck of Marion. He was a 1968 graduate of Marion Catholic High School and the Ohio University. He was married July 30, 1988 in Mount Vernon to the former Chris Stenger. He, his wife and daughter, Jenny, owned and operated Walnut Grove Campground, which he purchase in July 2003. He sold microscopes for Olympus. He was a member of ARVC, Ohio Campground Association; enjoyed woodworking; and enjoyed the outdoors with his family. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he worked bingo.

In addition to his parents wife, he is survived by daughter, Jennifer Rubeck of the home; sisters, Mary Helen (Don) Dowling of Cleveland, Irene (Jeff) Bookwalter of Columbus, Beth (Rick) McCrery of Marion and Joan (Jerry) Yanosko of Cleveland; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Stenger of Mount Vernon; brothers-in-law, Gail (Darlene) Stenger of Mount Vernon and Earl (Linda) Stenger of Fredericktown; sister-in-law, Kathy (John) Pazar of Pickerington; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Earl Stenger Jr.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Hoffman-Gottfried Funeral Home, Tiffin, where a wake service will be at 8:45 p.m. Rosary service will be recited Friday at 10:15 a.m. at the St. Mary Catholic Church, followed by Mass at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Timothy Ferris will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery at Marion, with graveside service conducted by the Marion Veterans Council Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Parm Temple
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. — Parm Ardelle Hendershot Temple, 96, of Walnut Creek, Calif., formerly of Mount Vernon, died June 19, 2004. The North-Dilley Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is in charge of arrangements.
