HOWARD — George J. Blaha, 83, of Jonathan Drive, Howard, died June 16, 2004,
at MedCentral Health System in Mansfield. The Fischer Funeral Home in Danville
is in charge of arrangements.
Henry ‘Bud’ Byrd
MANSFIELD — Henry F. “Bud” Byrd, 82, of Mansfield died Saturday,
June 12, 2004, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to Henry and Fonnie Byrd. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and was a member of the VFW Post 3494. He enjoyed fishing and sang and played the guitar for Mansfield radio station WMAN.
He is survived by a son, Ronald Byrd of Mansfield; a sister-in-law, Barbara Byrd of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren, Robin, Tonya and Buddy of Mansfield; two nephews, Terry Byrd of Mount Vernon and Melvin Byrd Jr. of Florida; a niece, Roseanne McNawara; and a special friend, Orrie Rush of Mansfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Anna Byrd; four sisters, Jewell Alice, Jean Morterman, Velma Denton and Nora Granger; and four brothers, Melvin Byrd Sr., Thomas Byrd, Terrell Byrd and William Byrd.
Funeral will be today at 1 p.m. in Wappner Funeral Directors, Mansfield. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, with military service by the Mansfield Joint Veterans Council. Online guest registry is at www.wappner.com.
Patricia A. Marti
MOUNT VERNON — Patricia A. Marti, 57, of Mount Vernon died Wednesday morning,
June 16, 2004, at Knox Community Hospital.
She was born Dec. 24, 1946, in Mount Vernon. She attended Christ the King Community Church in Fredericktown.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Gerald L. Marti; two sons, Gary R. and James Marti, both of Mount Vernon; her mother, Wilda (Winterringer) Jones of Joaquin, Texas; three brothers, Oscar (Teresa) Jones Jr. of Joaquin, Texas, Herschel Jones of Mount Vernon and Joseph (Valerie) Jones of Gary, Texas; five sisters, Barbara Walters, Paula (John) Sholar and Scottie McAdams, all of Joaquin, Texas, Carolyn (John) Schaffer of Federicktown and Monica (Thomas) Simpson of Gary, Texas; and a grandson, Alex James Marti.
She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar A. Jones Sr.; two sisters, Leatha and Linda Jones; and a sister-in-law, Beverly Jones.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. in the North-Dilley Funeral Home, where funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. Pastor Lucian Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Mound View Cemetery.

Lois A. Wright
MOUNT VERNON — Lois A. Wright, 78, of Upland Terrace, Mount Vernon, passed
away Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at her residence.
She was born June 9, 1926, in York, Pa., to Elvin and Ruth (Fortune) Musselman. Mrs. Wright was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Mount Vernon, and had served as a volunteer for Knox Community Hospital, Lake Hospital, American Cancer Society and Mount Vernon City Schools. Mrs. Wright retired in 1986 after 20 years of driving school bus for Willoughby-Eastlake School District.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Kellie B. Wright; three sons, Ronald (Francine) Wright of Bridgewater, Mass., Jeffrey (Kim) Wright of Painesville, Kevin (Gail) Wright of Wooster; three daughters, Carol (Tom) Harding of Solon, Merry (Frank) Sickel of Gladstone, Mo., Janis (Mikel) Cheek of Mount Vernon; 18 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Lloyd Musselman of Meza, Ariz., Paul (Delores) Musselman of Roscommon, Mich.; a sister, Alyce Elaine Harvey of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two half brothers, Paul E. Musselman of Cleveland and Keith (Lisa) Musselman of Fort Myers, Fla.; and a half sister, Myra (James) Stewart of Lehigh Acres, Fla.
Friends may call Sunday from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. in the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene, 807 Coshocton Ave., Mount Vernon. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
