H. Deerhake
FINDLAY
— Vernon H. Deerhake, 88, of Findlay died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at Heritage
Nursing Home in Findlay.
He was born June 22, 1915, in Auglaize County to Henry and Anna (Luft) Deerhake. He was a graduate of Memorial High School in St. Mary’s and completed the LaSalle extension courses at The Ohio State University. He was manager of Williamstown elevator, manager of Hancock County Farm Bureau Cooperation Association, secretary-treasurer of Hancock Savings and Loan, and manager and vice president of Citizens Savings and Loan.
He was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church, having served on the Board of Deacons and board of trustees, also as an elder, serving two years as clerk of session. He was a member of the chancel choir. He also served as treasurer of the board of directors of Family Services and helped with its organization. He was a member of the Findlay Rotary Club, Findlay Hancock County Chamber of Commerce, Home Builders Association and Findlay Board of Realtors. He was a member of the Character Builder at First Presbyterian Church, secretary of Fort Findlay Financial Club and the U.S. Trotting Association.
He is survived by three children, William F. (Beverly) Deerhake of Houston, Texas, Dr. Richard H. (Barbara) Deerhake of Findlay and Ann (Steve) Banbury of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Edna Parmalee of Meriden, Conn., and Clara Layton of Sidney.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille (Buckloh), whom he married Feb. 14, 1939. She died April 8, 1990. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Luann Deerhake; a grandson; and six siblings, Homer Deerhake, Leroy Deerhake, Raymond Deerhake, Mildred Jauert, Lydia Kuck and Mary Schmidt.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Findlay with the Rev. John Wurster officiating. Following the service, a private burial will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery for family members only. Visitation will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Codren Crates Funeral Home in Findlay.
The family requests no flowers and that all memorials be sent to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 2330 S. Main St., Findlay 45840.
Edwin C. McCoy
HEATH — Edwin C. McCoy, 73, of Heath died May 8, 2004, at the Selma Markowitz
Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio.
He was born June 25, 1930, in Knox County to Lyle and Mildred (Shipley) McCoy. Mr. McCoy was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean conflict. He retired from Yellow Freight in 1991, where he had been a truck driver. He also drove for B&L Motor Freight for many years.
Mr. McCoy was a member of the Crusader Lodge 720 F&AM where he was a 32nd Degree Mason and had served as past master. He was the past commander of the VFW, past president of the Licking County Shrine and was also a member of the Druids, American Legion, Teheran Grotto, Eastern Star 551, Licking County Scottish Rite Warren Chapter, and the Teamsters Retirees 637.
He is survived by his wife, Fran (Schroll) McCoy; three daughters, Mary Jane Hasenzahl of Richmond, Va., Carol Ann Miller and Linda Brown, both of Mount Vernon; a son, David McCoy of Mount Vernon; stepchildren, Phyllis Rodoski of Reynoldsburg, Debbie Hosfelt of Heath, Robert Lane of Gahanna and RaeJean Owen of Hebron; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lowell McCoy of Jacksonville, Ark., and Donald McCoy of Willard; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Bushong.
Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Heath Chapel of Henderson, Van Atta & Johnston Funeral Service, 1249 Hebron Road, where Crusader Lodge 720 F&AM will have a service at 5:45 p.m., the Druids will have a service at 6 p.m., and the VFW will have a service at 6:15 p.m. Funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert L. Knox officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens where military honors will be observed.

Marilyn J. Ulrey
MOUNT VERNON — Marilyn J. Ulrey, 59, of Mount Vernon died May 8, 2004, at
her residence.
She was born May 18, 1944, to Arthur J. and Imogene (Cochran) Coffing. She was a member of the Green Valley United Methodist Church. She served with her family in the ministry at Martinsburg United Methodist Church, Martinsburg Community Church and Martinsburg Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Lee Ulrey, to whom she had been married 38 years; two sons, Asa J. Ulrey of Mount Vernon and Ty S. Ulrey of Mount Vernon; one daughter, Amy J. Ulrey of Mount Vernon; five brothers, Jeffery Coffing of Fredericktown, Wesley Coffing of Cleveland, Barth Coffing of Mount Vernon, Gregory Coffing of Mount Vernon and Berry Coffing of Fredericktown; and one sister, Pam Fry of Newark.
There will be no calling hours and the family will observe private services. The North-Dilley Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Richard L. Zimmerman
MOUNT VERNON — Richard L. Zimmerman, age 76, of Mount Vernon died Friday,
May 7, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born March 18, 1928, in Traverse City, Mich., to Lewis and Ina (Hardy) Zimmerman and had lived in Mount Vernon for many years. Mr. Zimmerman served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
Surviving are his wife, Betty (Carlson) Zimmerman, whom he married Jan. 8, 1953; his daughter, Shelley Zimmerman of St. Cloud, Fla; two sons, Rick Zimmerman of Nashville, Tenn., and Todd Zimmerman of Bayville, N.Y.; and a grandson, Kristofer Zimmerman.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Kim Zimmerman; a sister, Jane Ann Oliver; and a brother, Jack Zimmerman.
The family has no current plans for a memorial service. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
