Larry R. Bailey
MOUNT VERNON, Ill. — The Rev. Larry R. Bailey, 65, of Mount Vernon, Ill.,
died April 9, 2004, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 1, 1939, in Elwood, Ind., to Edward L. and Grace (Jonach) Bailey. He was a retired minister, having served the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Ill., from 1971 to 1981. He also had pastorates at Milmay Baptist Church, Milmay, N.J.; First Baptist Church, Fredericktown; and First Baptist Church, Frankfort, Ind.
For 13 years he served as area minister of the Southern Illinois American Baptist Churches, Great Rivers Region. He also did missionary work in El Salvador and Nicaragua.
He was a member of the YMCA board, Lions Club, past board of director of the King City Dinner Club, past president of the Ministerial Alliance in Mount Vernon, Ill.; he was an Eagle Scout and served on the board of trustees of Judson Baptist College in Elgin, Ill.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene Bailey; a son, Michael (Pennie) Bailey of Aurora, Ill.; two daughters, Kathy (Bruce) Campbell of St. Charles, Mo., and Diane (Brian) Willard of St. Charles, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Kurtis Bailey, Heather Bailey, Kevin Bailey, Marc Bailey, Chad Reed, Daniel Campbell, Kayleigh Willard and Meagan Willard; a sister, Judy (Dee) Hubbartt of Elwood, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Ill., where funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m.; burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The Revs. Randy McNeely and Troy Warner will officiate.

Franklin C. Cochren
MOUNT VERNON — Franklin C. Cochren, 54, of Morris Street, Mount Vernon,
passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Knox Community Hospital.
He was born April 17, 1949, in Mount Vernon, the son of John Eugene and Virginia Ada (Bash) Cochren and had been a lifelong resident of Mount Vernon. Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1968 to 1969, and a member of the Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon. He was the owner/operator of Frank C. Cochren Trucking.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Barnett) Cochren; a son, Franklin Cochren Jr. of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Lynn Smith of Mount Vernon; two stepsons, Bill (Karen) Betscher of Martinsburg and Don (Melinda) Betscher of Howard; four grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Cody Smith, Shelby Lynn Cochren and Seth Cochren; four stepgrandchildren, John Betscher, Casey Betscher, Wesley Betscher and Ben Betscher; two brothers, Michael Cochren of Thailand and Tim Cochren of Mount Vernon; and four sisters, Pam Schultz of Mount Vernon, Sue Collier and Kingsville, Texas, Sandra O’Brien of Mount Vernon and Candace Cochren of Columbus.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Cochren;
a sister, Dottie Sue Cochren; and a grandson, Thomas Lee Cochren.
Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in
Mount Vernon. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Mount Zion
Cemetery. Pastor Joe Blevins will officiate.

Charles B. Knox Sr.
MOUNT VERNON — Charles B. Knox Sr., 78, of Mount Vernon died Thursday, April
8, 2004, at Country Court Nursing Center.
He was born June 15, 1925, in Brandon to Benjamen F. and Grace (Hays) Knox. He was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary L. (Kearns) Knox; a daughter, Patricia (Charles) McFarland of Butler; a son, Charles B. (Karen) Knox Jr. of Arlington, Texas; three granddaughters, Cathy (Dave) whirl, Teresa (Glen) Teet and Mary McFarland; four great-grandchildren, Billy, Austin, Brandon and Ethan; one stepgrandson, Marc Nichol; and a sister, Marietta Mowry of Marion.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two daughters, Janet and Mary Lou Knox; two sisters, Marguerite Vian and Florence Walton; a brother, Donald Knox; and a half brother, Ralph Hall.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside service will be Monday at 1 p.m. in Brandon Cemetery. Minister Delmar Jarvis will officiate. The North-Dilley Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

McCoy, Doris M.
Doris M. Mc Coy (Dorrie), who lived at 15 E. Vine St., Mount Vernon, for 29 years,
passed away on April 8, 2004. Mrs. Mc Coy was born March 22, 1911, in Grove City,
Pa., to the late Roy and Pearl (Teare) Reynolds. She was a member of the Grace
Methodist Episcopal Church in Grove City.
She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn McCoy in El Segundo Calif., with whom Doris had resided since December 3, 2000, as well as a sister, Mrs. Ida Givens of Mount Vernon. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph L. Reynolds, and an infant sister.
Interment of her ashes will be in Grove City, Pa., later this year.
Royle D. Montgomery
FREDERICKTOWN — Royle D. Montgomery, 91, of Fredericktown died Friday, April
9, 2004, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon following a brief illness.
Royle was born June 22, 1912, in Morris Township, Knox County, to Jay Norman and Emma (Kramer) Montgomery and had lived his lifetime in Morris Township. He had maintained a farm most of his life and had been employed for 22 years by Producers Livestock in Mount Vernon. Royle had served as a Morris Township trustee for 40 years. He was a member of the Berlin United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his children, Barbara (Jack) Flood and Janet K. (Nick) Montgomery, both of Fredericktown, and Robert (Loretta) Montgomery of Howard; granddaughter, Kelly Teter, and her daughter, Hannah Rose; granddaughter, Lisa (Tony) Schwartz, and their daughters, Tashena and Ciera; grandson, Mike (Beth) Trainer, and their daughter, Savannah Ruby; granddaughter, Mary (Roger) Ash, and their daughter, Carley; grandson, Rob (Kelly) Montgomery, and their children, Jordan Royle, Mikala, Madisyn and Makenzi; granddaughter, Jennifer Montgomery; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Leona (Smith) Montgomery; his sister, Ruby Stackhouse; and three brothers, Doyle Montgomery, Dwight Montgomery and Virgil Montgomery.
Friends may call Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Monday one hour before the funeral at Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown, where funeral will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery at Fredericktown.
