Eleanor De Grange
MOUNT VERNON — Eleanor “Patsy” (Oakes) De Grange, 78, of Hilltop
Drive, Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Knox Community Hospital.
She was born Feb. 24, 1926, in Mount Vernon to Travie and Edna Mae (Graham) Oakes. Mrs. De Grange loved studying family genealogy. She was a 1944 graduate of Mount Vernon High School.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Lawrence De Grange; two sisters, Doris McCrory and Margaret Heighton, both of Mount Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, where funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Joe Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery.

Dwight Hotchkiss
UTICA — Dwight D. Hotchkiss, 83, of Utica, formerly of Washington, Pa.,
died March 20, 2004, at Utica Care Center.
He was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Knox County to Oscar S. and Myrtle (Strode) Hotchkiss. He was a 1938 graduate of Utica High School and a member of the Utica Presbyterian Church. He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater in the 486th Ordnance Evacuation Company. Mr. Hotchkiss was the manager of General Feed & Supply in Washington, Pa.
He is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Tanner of Plano, Texas, and Maxine Stanley of Worthington; brother-in-law, Joe Torrens of Utica.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Mary Evelyn Torrens and Vera Branstool.
A graveside service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in South Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Dallas Dryburgh officiating. The Law-Baker Funeral Home, Utica, is in charge of arrangements.

Edna M. Johnson
MOUNT VERNON — Edna M. Johnson, 89, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Utica,
died March 21, 2004, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon.
She was born Dec. 2, 1914, in Knox County to Jacob R. and Mina M. (Hinkle) Wolfe. Mrs. Johnson was retired from The Miller Co. She was a member of Grove Church of Christ, Eastern Star Chapter 303 in Bladensburg and Rebeccas of Newark.
She is survived by her son, Keith (Pamela) Johnson of Strongsville; two granddaughters, Jennifer Corso of Eastlake and Sarah Meeker of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Morgan, Alex and Courtney; two brothers, Willis Wolfe of Mount Vernon and Robert Wolfe of California; and a sister, Emma Smith of California.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie S. Johnson, in 1983; five brothers; and one sister.
Funeral will be Tuesday at noon at Grove Church of Christ. Pastor Jerold Tear will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery. The Law-Baker Funeral Home in Utica is in charge of arrangements.

Richard L. Walters
FREDERICKTOWN — Richard Lee Walters, 63, of Mount Vernon Avenue, Fredericktown,
passed away Saturday, March 20, 2004, at his residence.
He was born July 11, 1940, in Newark to the late Arley Lee Walters and Genevie (McKibben) Walters Larimore. Mr. Walters and his wife owned and operated Dick’s Muffler Shop in Mount Vernon for 15 years. He was an avid golfer and bowler, and was a member of several bowling leagues in Fredericktown. Mr. Walters served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1961. He was a 1958 graduate of Utica High School.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Amy (Magill) Walters; a daughter, Nancy (Jerry) Bechtel of Utica; a given daughter, Lindy (Jerry) Hall Waterbeck of Willard; a granddaughter, Shelbi Bechtel; two brothers, Robert (Marianne) Walters of Abbeville, S.C., and Raymond “Larry” (Ruth) Walters of Apple Valley.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown. A graveside service with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Forest Cemetery at Fredericktown. The Rev. Joe Blevins will officiate.
