Irene S. Beeman
MOUNT VERNON — Irene S. Beeman, 89, a former Mulberry Street resident, died
March 15, 2004, at Country Court Nursing Center.
She was born June 5, 1914, in Knox County to Isaac and Ida B. (Taylor) Hoovler.
She was a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church and Soroptimist International
of Knox County. She was a former member of the Business and Professional Women’s
Association.
Irene had been a self-employed beautician in Mount Vernon since 1934 and had been
with Merle Norman Cosmetics since 1946. She had supported many organizations in
Knox County including the Junior Miss Program, Knox County Career Center, the
Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival, the Woodward Opera House and the Knox County
Historical Society.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Vicki Lynne Kemmer of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurlowe W. “Red” Beeman, in 1961; her daughter, Patricia E. Kemmer, in 1965; two brothers, Judson B. and William H. Taylor; and one sister, Rose M. Pinvidic.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Gay Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. David Baker officiating. Burial will be in Mound View Cemetery. The North-Dilley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Gay Street United Methodist Church Living Memorial Fund, 18 N. Gay St., Mount Vernon 43050.
Victoria Heller
COLUMBUS — Victoria Heller, 55, of Columbus died Saturday, March 13, 2004,
at Pasco Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Fredericktown, and was a manicurist at a beauty salon.
Survivors include a son, Hamish Jackson of Columbus; a daughter, Stephannie Sebach of Santa Anna, Calif.; her mother, Pauline Heller of Fredericktown; two sisters, Diana Benson of Fredericktown and Norma Johnston of Worthington; a half brother, Larry Heller of Mansfield; two half sisters, Berdina Hall and Connie Fouts, both of Loudonville; and a grandchild, Devon Marie Jackson of Seattle, Wash.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Fredericktown. The Hodges Family Funeral Home in Florida assisted with arrangements.
Richard A. Owen
GLENMONT — Richard A. “Yank” Owen, 50, of Glenmont died Monday,
March 8, 2004, in Glenmont of natural causes.
He was born Feb. 5, 1954, in Millersburg and was the son of Ralph L. and Mary Louise (Ferguson) Owen. He was a member of the Killbuck VFW.
Surviving are a son, Taylor Owen, and his mother, Ty Conn, both of Glenmont; a sister, Cathy Allum of Wooster; and a niece, Mindy Carr of Toledo.
Yank was a loving father and enjoyed sports and the outdoors.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg, where memorial service will be Friday at 6 p.m. Pastor Ed Stivers will officiate. Burial will be in the Killbuck Cemetery.

Mary L. Sennish
MOUNT VERNON — Mary Louise Sennish, 76, of Mount Vernon died Sunday, March
14, 2004, at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Mary was a former resident of Cleveland. She is survived by her sister, Rita Brdicka of Plainfield, Ill.
The family will hold private services. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon assisted the family with arrangements.
Harvey J. Johnson
HOWARD — Harvey J. Johnson, 49, of Howard passed away Wednesday, March 17,
2004, at Knox Community Hospital. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
Freda C. Swaney
MOUNT VERNON — Freda Cathelene Swaney, 91, died March 16, 2004, at 1:15
a.m. at Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon.
She had spent most of her life in southeastern Ohio before coming to this area to be cared for by her daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Catherine (Timothy) Hughes of Mount Vernon; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of a family of 10 brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Dennis Swaney, in 1994.
Funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home in Marietta. Pastor Ted Evans assisted by her son-in-law, Tim Hughes, will officiate.
