Marguerite Bartram
FREDERICKTOWN — Marguerite C. Bartram, 91, of Sparta Road, Fredericktown,
and formerly of Hilliard, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Knox Community
Hospital.
She was born Dec. 25, 1912, in Lawrence County to E. Thomas and Rita (Ellcessor) Shafer. Mrs. Bartram served as Civil Defense Warden in Ironton during World War II. She loved collecting antiques, stamps, glassware and writing her own poems.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Debbie) Bartram of Fredericktown and William Bartram of Valencia, Calif.; two daughters, Rebecca (Craig) Bartholomew of New York and Debra Bartram of Columbus; five grandchildren, Rob Bartram, Tiffany Bartram, Trisha Bartram, Christina Bartram and Victoria Bartholomew.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Bartram, in 1982; and nine brothers and sisters.

Mable R. Cline
FREDERICKTOWN — Mable R. Cline, 87, of Fredericktown died Thursday, Feb.
5, 2004, at the Whispering Hills Care Center. The Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown

Jane W. Saunders
MOUNT VERNON — Jane W. Saunders, 85, of Mount Vernon died Wednesday, Feb.
4, 2004, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Mrs. Saunders was born April 5, 1918, in Knox County to Oartho and Goldie (McBride) Cline and had spent most of her life in the Mount Vernon area. She had been employed at the Continental Can Co. in Mount Vernon and the Mount Vernon Developmental Center.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald Saunders, whom she married May 29, 1974; two stepsons, Rodney (Gloria) Saunders of Bellville and Rick Saunders of Mansfield; two stepdaughters, Barbara (Tom) Fabian of Warsaw and Karen (John) Peters of Washington Court House; several stepgrandchildren; and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Hughes; a stepson, Neal Saunders; a stepdaughter, Rayma Kolbel; her brother, Lewis Cline; and two sisters, Mildred Swendall and Leota Workman.

Rita M. Smith
MOUNT VERNON — Rita M. Smith, 80, of Mount Vernon died Feb. 4, 2004, at
Knox Community Hospital.
She was born May 29, 1923, in Knox County to Joseph and Esta (Snyder) DeVore. She loved fishing, gardening and puzzles.
She is survived by two daughters, Kay (Robert) Frazee of Howard and Barbara Ann (Don) Heffkin of Ardmore, Ala.; five sons, Steve (Roberta) Smith, Larry (Patricia) Smith, Richard (Paula) Smith and Donald (Barbara) Smith, all of Mount Vernon, and Dale (Bonnie) Smith of Warsaw; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell L. Smith, in 1958; a granddaughter, Karlene Kay Frazee; two brothers; and three sisters.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be Friday at 1 p.m. in Martinsburg Cemetery. The North-Dilley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
