Helen R. Gardner
COLUMBUS — Helen R. Gardner, 85, of Columbus, formerly of Westerville
and Centerburg, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004.
She was retired from Huntington National Bank at Westerville. She was an avid bowler and bingo player.
She is survived by a son, Don (Cherie) White of Naples, Fla.; daughter, Stephanie (Joe) Hale of Columbus; grandchildren, Courtney Campbell, Kent White, Barry and Eric Hale; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Gardner.
Friends may call Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E. Schrock Road, Westerville; and on Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. in the Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home, 49 W. Church St., Centerburg, where funeral will be at 2 p.m. The Rev. Gary Pollock will officiate. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery, Centerburg.
Harlan Schoonover Jr.
CONDIT — Harlan “Schoonie” Schoonover Jr., 80, of Condit
died at home Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004.
He was born April 23, 1923, in Condit. He was a retired carpenter and charter member of Sunbury Eagles, where he also served as maintenance person. He served as a civil service employee for the U.S. Navy and was sent to Pearl Harbor to help restore the damaged battleships following the Japanese attack. Known as an outdoorsman, he loved to fish and hunt.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Willard, Robert, Thomas (Pinkie), Michael (Cindy) and Debra (Ronald) Boggs; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty (Fleck); his parents, Harlan and Hazel (Lane) Schoonover; a brother, Willard Schoonover; and a sister, Thelma Nuckles.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at 61, Sunbury, where funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. Pastor Roger Crego will officiate and interment will be in Trenton Cemetery.

MOUNT VERNON — Theresa E. “Terry” Smith of Mount Vernon
passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at her residence following an extended
illness. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ronald E. Wilson
MOUNT VERNON — Ronald E. Wilson, 55, of Sychar Road, Mount Vernon,
passed away on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004, at Country Court Nursing Home.
He was born Oct. 4, 1948, in Sandusky. Ronald worked as a manager at Firestone in Mount Vernon.
He is survived by two daughters; his stepfather, William Kerr of Gambier; a half sister, Diane Hoeflich of Gambier; and a stepsister, Lu Anne (Richard) Bryant of Mount Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Kerr.
The family will observe private services at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
