Rosetta ‘Rosie’ Newmeyer
MOUNT VERNON — Rosetta “Rosie” Joy Newmeyer, 5-year-old
daughter of Helen (Rose) Newmeyer went to be with Jesus on Jan. 13, 2004,
following an illness of several months.
She was born Oct. 20, 1998, and had been a Mount Vernon resident for most of her life. Rosie was active in YMCA gymnastics and in youth activities at Faith Baptist Church including the children’s choir, the Olympians Club Gopher Class and a member of the Knox County Christian Home School Association.
In addition to her mother she is survived by two brothers, Derrick and Colton Newmeyer, both at home; her maternal grandparents, Wilfred and Helen Rose of Loudonville, Ohio; two aunts; an uncle; several cousins; and her father, Rick Newmeyer.
Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church. Funeral
service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the church. The Rev. Merlyn
Jones will officiate and burial will follow in Bird Cemetery. The Flowers-Snyder
Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Robert ‘Bob’ Pealer
VESTA, Minn. — Robert “Bob” Pealer, 51, of Vesta, Minn.,
died Jan. 12, 2004, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 6, 1952, in Mount Vernon. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley A. Clifton; his son, Nicklas Pealer, and daughter, Sarah Pealer, both of Clarksville, Minn.; brothers, Lawrence E. Pealer, Apple Creek, Charles Pealer of Florida and Michael D. Pealer of Mount Vernon; a half sister, Connie Sue Allen of Millersport; stepbrother, Michael Clifton of Mount Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Edwin L. Pealer.
Funeral was Friday in Minnesota.
Freda M. Shumate
CENTERBURG — Freda M. Shumate, 83, of Centerburg died at 6:40 a.m.
Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, in Country Court Nursing Home in Mount Vernon.
Born May 13, 1920, she was a daughter of Roy and Ethel (Fulton) Butcher. She was a member of the Centerburg Church of Christ.
Survivors are two daughters, Beverly Major of Columbus and Christine (David) Morris of Centerburg; three grandchildren, Sarah Letki, Rebecca Fraley and Amanda Major; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred (Howard) Peters, Judith Woosley and Laura Miller, all of London; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Arthur Shumate, in 1954. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Gaylord and Weldon Butcher; and two sisters, Lucille and Betty Butcher.
Funeral service will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Eberle-Fisher Funeral Home, London, with Evangelist Fred Albrecht officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
