Robert L. Angel
MOUNT VERNON — Robert Lee Angel, 68, of Mount Vernon died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness.

Robert was born April 11, 1935, at Bladen in Gallia County to Lloyd and Elma (Lambert) Angell. He had been an employee of the Cleveland Plain Dealer and retired from Landrum News.

Surviving are his stepmother, Juanita Betz of Sandusky; three daughters, Vicki Conner of Pickerington, Donna Flack of Mount Vernon and Kimberly Williams of Marengo; three sons, Robert A. Angel of Marengo, Terry D. Angel of Cardington and Brent E. Angel of Mount Vernon; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Arlin Angel of Gallipolis; his half brother, William Angel of Sandusky; half sisters, Roxie Binion of McKinney, Texas, and Catherine Victory of Boxham, Texas; his stepsisters, Judy Porter of Sandusky and Linda Mallow of Texas; and is canine companion, Sissy.

Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Angel; and his sister, Eleanor Wellington.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside funeral service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Mound View Cemetery at Mount Vernon with the Rev. Mark Wildermuth officiating. The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is in charge of arrangements.

Blanche M. Crawford
MOUNT GILEAD — Blanche M. Crawford, 67, of Ibera Street, Mount Gilead, passed peacefully away in her home surrounded by her loving family Saturday morning, Jan. 10, 2004.

She was born in Geneva, N.Y., on Jan. 29, 1936, the daughter of Halgar Christensen and Ina Gertrude Allen. She was a homemaker and dedicated her entire life to family and friends. She had lived in Mount Gilead since 1989, before moving from Danville.

She is survived by her loving husband, Clare F. Crawford, whom she married July 21, 1961; her sons, David N. (Candy) Crawford of Fredericktown and Lance (Trish) Crawford of Killbuck; her daughters, Beri L. (Greg) Tiffany-Smith of Mount Vernon, Marie B. Bennett of Mount Gilead, Debra L. Bass-Hoyer of Dublin, Kimberly A. Tice of Mount Gilead, Laurie J. (Leigh) Watson of Brinkhaven and Nicole S. Crawford of Mount Gilead; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob Christensen of Geneva, N.Y.; and two sisters, Shirley Calabrese of Geneva, N.Y., and Peg Rood of Marion, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Alfred, Donald and Bill Christensen; and her sisters, Irene Cincola and Loretta Dolan.

Memorial service will be Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Craven Funeral Home, Mount Gilead, with the Rev. Phil Hertleburg. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Thomas DeWinter Jr.
MOUNT VERNON — Thomas R. DeWinter Jr., 49, of North Jefferson Street, Mount Vernon, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 20, 1954, in Mount Vernon to the late Thomas and Mildred (Mathews) DeWinter Sr. Mr. DeWinter served in the U.S. Navy from 1973 to 1977.

He is survived by a stepdaughter, Theresa Pruitt; a brother, Douglas (Marsha) DeWinter of Centerburg; three sisters, Deby (Bill) Hart of Mount Vernon, Connie (David) Phipps of San Diego, Calif., and Julie (Mike) Fahling of Mount Vernon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold W. Houck
MOUNT GILEAD — Harold Wilson Houck, 74, of Mount Gilead died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at the Woodside Village Care Center in Mount Gilead.

Harold was born Sept. 10, 1929, in Homer to Homer A. Houck and Ruth (Sesser) Houck Warner and moved to Mount Gilead in 2001 from Fredericktown. He retired after 35 years with Schlairet and PIE trucking companies. Harold attended the Gilead Friends Church near Mount Gilead and had served in the Ohio National Guard for 32 years retiring as a master sergeant. He enjoyed cooking and hunting for mushrooms.

Surviving are his wife, Jane (Miller) Houck, whom he married June 3, 1948; his son, Craig Houck of Fredericktown; his daughter, Pam (David) Spellman of Mount Gilead; two grandchildren, John Houck and Michael Houck; four sisters, Mildred Davis of Mount Vernon, Maxine (Don) Page of Lake Placid, Fla., Elinor (Joe) Stauffer of Palm Bay, Fla., and Jean (Gail) Neighbarger of Newark; a stepsister, Elaine (Bob) Fisher of Mount Vernon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Houck.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. a the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown where funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ron Ellyson officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery at Chesterville.

Mary L. Loney
FREDERICKTOWN — Mary L. (Beveridge) Loney, 90, of Lakeland Drive, Fredericktown, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at Knox Community Hospital.

She was born Jan. 5, 1914, in Butler to the late Lee and Toris (Pierce) Beveridge. She was a member of Christ the King Community Church in Fredericktown.

She is survived by a son, Jack (Louise) Loney of Shinston, W.Va.; a daughter, Shirley Seymor of Fredericktown; four grandchildren, Zane, Diane, Sherry and Steve; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edwin (Mary) Beveridge of Bellville.

The family will observe private services. Burial will be in North Liberty Cemetery. Snyder Funeral Home of Fredericktown is in charge of arrangements.

Jenna M. VanBuskirk
CARDINGTON — Jenna Mae VanBuskirk, 16, of Cardington died suddenly with her mother, Kathy Ann VanBuskirk, on Jan. 9, 2004.

She was born Jan. 24, 1987, in Columbus to Robert and Kathy Ann (Runyan) VanBuskirk. Jenna was a junior/senior at Cardington High School She was an honor roll student and participated in choir.

In addition to her father of Germany, she is survived by maternal grandmother, Vella (Cavanaugh) Runyan of Delaware; paternal grandfather, James VanBuskirk of Delaware; aunt, Deborah (Allen) Nagle of Dublin; and uncles, John (Amy) Runyan, Robert and Steven VanBuskirk, all of Delaware.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Olivia Iris; grandfather, Gerald Runyan; grandmother, Norma Jean VanBuskirk; great-grandparents, Edith and Floyd Cavanaugh, Pauline and Robert Carter.

Friends may call Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware, where funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Marlborough Cemetery at Delaware.

Kathy VanBuskirk
CARDINGTON — Kathy A. VanBuskirk, 42, of Cardington died suddenly with her daughter, Jenna Mae, on Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at their residence.

She was born Nov. 17, 1961, in Peoria, Ill., to Gerald and Vella (Cavanaugh) Runyan. She moved to Delaware in 1970 and had been a resident of Cardington for the past three years.

In addition to her mother of Delaware, she is survived by a brother, John (Amy) Runyan of Delaware; and a sister, Deborah (Allen) Nagle of Dublin.

She was accompanied in death by a daughter, Jenna; preceded in death by a daughter, Olivia Iris; her father, Gerald A. Runyon; and grandparents, Edith and Floyd Cavanaugh.
