MOUNT VERNON ó Chef Paul Higgins will present ďEat Fresh on $15 or LessĒ during the monthly farmerís market Tuesday at the Knox County Health Department. Higgins will demonstrate will how to use fresh foods from the market.
There will be sessions at 4 and 5 p.m. The presentations will take place in the health department conference room and are free and open to the public.
The health department hosts the monthly farmerís market to encourage local residents to eat better and to make them aware of locally produced fruits and vegetables. The market takes place in the parking lot on the south side of the health department from 4 to 6:30 p.m., rain or shine. Eligible WIC clients will be able to use designated coupons to purchase items at the market. A variety of products is expected to be available, depending on whatís in-season.
The market coincides with the health departmentís monthly late clinic. Appointments for immunizations are available, birth and death records can be purchased and the WIC program and dental clinic have scheduled appointments.
