CENTERBURG — Remember lazy summer days of croquet on the lawn, lemonade and homemade ice cream? Centerburg Joint Recreation District will help guests relive these memories or make new ones in this free family event Sunday at 2 p.m.

Croquet equipment, homemade ice cream and lemonade will all be provided along with tips on how to play for those new to croquet.

The program begins on the lawn at Memorial Park located at the intersection of Ohio 314 and U.S. 36, just north of Centerburg.

“This is a great relaxing summertime activity that nearly everyone from 5 to 105 can enjoy,” said Gary Moore, program coordinator for CJRD. “We will be playing informal rules on a nice grassy lawn so it is something the whole family can enjoy together. If you have never played croquet before, think of it as miniature golf without the obstacles,” added Moore. “Of course the homemade ice cream is an added treat and attraction, we have a great recipe that everyone should enjoy.”

“This is a great example of recreational opportunities CJRD can provide for the community,” said Kevin White, administrator for CJRD. “A wholesome outdoor activity that the whole family can enjoy is a great way to spend a summer afternoon.”

The Centerburg Joint Recreation District was created to provide Centerburg area resident’s greater recreation opportunity and variety. The mission of the CJRD is to physically and financially assist in the enhancement of recreational facilities and programs, and also to expand and develop additional recreational facilities and programs in the Centerburg School District.
