DANVILLE — The Danville Area Senior Citizens will meet Thursday, July 18, at noon. The afternoon will begin with a steak dinner prepared by ladies from Danville and Millwood Churches of Christ at St. Luke Community Center at noon.
The dinner menu will include Baked steak, seasoned red potatoes, California blend vegetable, lettuce salad, rolls, dessert and beverages. There is a suggested donation of $6 for lunch and reservations are due by Monday. Please contact Barb McKinley at 599-7102 or 599-7224, or Marty Neighbarger at 599-2930. If you reach the answering machine, please leave a name and number attending.
Lisa Burke, area musician and singer, will be entertaining following lunch. Burke, and her husband Jack, were married in 1992 and operate a dairy farm just west of Mount Vernon. Burke was born in Hermitage, Pa., and graduated from Hickory High School in 1987. She attended Mount Vernon Nazarene College and graduated with a major in sociology and a minor in music. Burke started singing in church around the age of 5. She participated in various singing groups in high school and college, including Living Witness, a traveling college singing group; Collegian, a large co-ed choir; and Goliards, a small chamber choir. More recently, Burke has performed at the Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival, the Knox County Fair, the Oldtime Farming Festival and other various local banquets. Burke enjoys singing Christian music and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. She is delighted to have the opportunity to share her “gift” at the Danville Area Seniors Citizens meeting.
Ohio Eastern Star personnel, Ruth Hershberger and Cyndi Wyatt, will be doing a fun activity with everyone and providing a door prize as well.
Danville Area Senior Citizens is open to former and current residents in Eastern Knox County (East Knox and Danville school districts) and their friends and neighbors.
