MOUNT VERNON — Registration for Operation: Street Smart is now underway. The training will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on July 11 at the Mount Vernon High School auditorium.
This training is helpful for parents, law enforcement and security officers, social service providers, home health care works, school staff and others who work with children. The purpose of the program, which is provided by the Knox Substance Abuse Action Team, is to provide information about current drug trends, terminology and paraphernalia.
Participants will learn to recognize the influences of the drug culture on children, become familiar with the many different drugs of abuse and learn what the kids already know in order to recognize when a child might be facing a drug program.
There is no attendance fee, but seating is limited to the first 300 registrants.
To register, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, organization name and email address.
