MOUNT VERNON— The Knox County Democratic Party will come together for its annual Spring Dinner on Thursday, April 18. The evening will feature keynote speaker Ed FitzGerald, the county executive of Cuyahoga County, who is preparing to run for the Democratic nomination for Ohio governor.

The top elected official in Ohio’s most populous county, Ed FitzGerald, was elected in 2009 following a voter-backed overhaul of county government. FitzGerald proceeded to clean up a government plagued by corruption and restore the public trust, drawing on his own experience as an FBI special agent and as an assistant county prosecutor.

Prior to his election as Cuyahoga County executive, FitzGerald served as mayor and city council member of Lakewood, and is a fighter for middle-class values.

He opposed Senate Bill 5, Gov. Kasich’s signature anti-worker legislation overturned by voters in a landslide in 2011, and he opposes Kasich’s plans to privatize the Ohio turnpike. He established a $100 million economic fund to grow northeast Ohio’s economy, made a groundbreaking investment in early childhood education, and passed full domestic partnership benefits in Cuyahoga County.

The dinner will be held in the new banquet room at the Parkside Restaurant, 108 Mount Vernon Ave., Mount Vernon. Reservations are required. For more information or to register for tickets, email events@knoxcountydems.org, call 740-393-DEMS (3367), or visit the party’s website at www.knoxcountydems.org.
