GAMBIER — Poet Allison Joseph visits Kenyon College on Saturday to help celebrate Black History Month and join a shared reading of “Poets and Writers of the African and African American Diaspora” at 5 p.m. in the Cheever Room at the Finn House, 102 W. Wiggin St.

Faculty, staff and students will read selections from favorite writers during the free event, and Joseph, who is a 1988 graduate of Kenyon, will read from her own work. She is the author of six poetry collections, including the 2010 book “My Father’s Kites: Poems.” Joseph is an associate professor of English at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she founded and directs the Young Writers Workshop at SIUC. She is also a founding editor of Crab Orchard Review and is the magazine’s poetry editor and editor-in-chief.

This reading is sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Greenslade Special Collections and Archives at Olin Library. To learn more, call 740-427-5160.
