GAMBIER — Kenyon College Chamber Singers and Kenyon Community Choir perform their annual winter concert on Saturday at 8 p.m. in Rosse Hall, 105 College Dr.

The Kenyon Community Choir will open the concert with both secular and sacred music. The choir’s program includes works by Stephen Chatman, Georgi Dimitrov, Georg Frideric Handel, Moses Hogan, Morten Lauridsen, Louis Lewandowski and William Grant Still. Ben Locke, Robert A. Oden, Jr. Professor of Music, who conducts both ensembles, will step aside for Kenyon senior Patrick Joyal of Bradfordwoods, Pa., who will conduct a Psalm setting by Alan Hovhannes. The choir is accompanied by Patricia Pelfrey, adjunct instructor of music.

The Chamber Singers will carry the second half of the concert, performing To His Music by Andrew Rindfleisch, La Guerre by Clement Janequin, and Madrigal by Paul Schwartz, who was the founder of the Kenyon Department of Music. The ensembles will perform together in the concert’s final selection, the South African folk song Shilohini.

This free concert is sponsored by the Department of Music, and the public is encouraged to attend. Call 740-427-5197 to learn more.
