FREDERICKTOWN — The 4th annual Fredericktown Holiday Poinsettia Sale will take place this year as a part of the Fredericktown Community Christmas Walk. This sale is one of the many activities of the walk that benefit Food for the Hungry and is sponsored by the Fredericktown Firefighters Association. Poinsettias will be available in red or white in 4-, 6- and 8-inch sizes. Prices are $5, $10, and $15 respectively. Orders may be placed between now and Dec. 2.

The number of individuals and families needing assistance from Interchurch and The Salvation Army is on the rise. District Fire Chief Scott Mast has challenged his firefighters to help meet those needs by chairing the poinsettia sale. All proceeds will benefit the two agencies and will stay in the Fredericktown area.

“The difference in buying a poinsettia from the Christmas Walk is that you are giving a gift to those in need. It is an easy way to help others this holiday season while making a purchase that you might have made anyway. Plus, we found in years past that these are some of the most beautiful poinsettias we have ever seen at such great prices,” said Ann Trudel, Christmas Walk chairwoman.

Orders may be placed by calling (740) 627-1664 or by picking up forms anytime at Farmer’s Citizen Bank, First-Knox National Bank, the Fredericktown Village Office, or the Fredericktown Library. Pick up is available on the day of the Walk between 1-5 p.m. in the Masonic Lodge next to the Senior Citizens Center. Other arrangement for pick up or delivery within Knox County may be made by calling the number above.

“We encourage everyone to consider this simple purchase by taking a moment to call and order a poinsettia,” stated Trudel. “It is essential that we raise every bit of money we can this year when so many of our friends and neighbors need our help.”
