MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon Resident John S. Kuhn will play a principal role, that of Atticus Finch, in SRO Theatre Company’s “To Kill a Mockingbird,” which runs Nov. 2-11 at the Shedd Theatre, Columbus Performing Arts Center, 549 Franklin Avenue, Columbus. This story was adapted for the stage by Christopher Sergel from the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Harper Lee.
Kuhn is Artistic Director of Actors’ Theatre of Columbus and is working on his PhD in theatre at The Ohio State University. His favorite roles include Shylock in “The Merchant of Venice,” which he also directed, King Lear, and Oberon in the recent Actors’ Theatre production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Columbus Commons.
The play is directed by Mark Mann. Other cast members include Josie Merkle (Jean Louise Finch); Jenna Rodier (Scout); Dylan S. Hopcraft (Jem); Wilma Hatton (Calpurnia); Aidan Behrens (Dill); Christopher C. Austin III (Tom Robinson); Kate Willis (Maudie Atkinson); Carolyn Harding (Stephanie Crawford); Leslie Robinson (Mrs. Dubose); Scott A. Willis (Heck Tate); John Feather (Judge Taylor); Madeleine Stover (Mayella Ewell); Alan McClintock (Bob Ewell); Michael Detmold (Walter Cunningham); Ronald E. Nocks (Mr. Gilmer) and Justine Appiah- Danquah (Helen Robinson). The role of Arthur Radley (Boo) will be played by a different actor for each performance: Tim Browning, Todd Covert, Ken Erney, Matt Hermes, Ralph E. Scott and Rich Stadler.
Show times for “To Kill a Mockingbird” are 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2; 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3; 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4; 10:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9; 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11.
