MOUNT VERNON — Two Ohio Woodland Stewards Forestry workshops will be held in November.
“Forests Food for Wildlife: Enhancing Mast Production” will be held Friday, Nov. 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Knox County Health Department, 11660 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon. The day-long workshop will be focused on the identification and enhancement of mast-producing trees, those whose nuts, berries and seeds serve as an important food source to many species of forest wildlife. There will be a discussion of a variety of mast-producing species and their different nutritional values, and a focus on management strategies that will improve mast production and attract wildlife. This workshop offers five hours of continuing education credits toward the Ohio Forest Tax Law program. There is a fee. To register call 614-68-3421 or visit woodlandstewards.osu.edu.
“Your Woods, Water & Wildlife Landowner workshop” will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Der Dutchman Restaurant, 720 Ohio 97 West, Bellville.
