FREDERICKTOWN — Residents of the village should not be alarmed this evening at the sound of fireworks coming from the Community Park off North Main Street.

Fredericktown Fire Chief Scott Mast said the Ohio Pyrotechnics Arts Guild is having a meeting and training session and will be setting off some fireworks.

Members of the Fredericktown Fire Department will be on hand as a precaution. People should not go to the park while this is going on.

Mast said the group did the same thing last year and a lot of calls were received about explosions going off.

The Police Department sent out notices of the event Friday so people would not be alarmed. Police Chief Jerry Day said this is not a public event, repeating that it is a private training session.
