CENTERBURG — Village Council welcomed a new member and handled routine organizational planning Monday night at its first meeting of 2014.

Four council positions were available on last fall’s ballot, but incumbents Dave Beck, Saundra Dove and Ronda Seligman were the only declared candidates. Consequently, the three were re-elected and began their new terms in office.

Council also had the responsibility to appoint a new member to replace retiring member Jerry Hess. Rusty Griffith was named to the six-member council, on which Ed Miller and Susie Oswalt also serve. Mayor Diana Stockmaster swore in the new and returning members, and then Dave Beck was re-elected as council president.

Consistent with past practice, council will meet monthly in 2014 on first Mondays at 7 p.m., with the exception of a Tuesday meeting on Sept. 2, the day after Labor Day.
