MOUNT VERNON — Effective Jan. 1, Blackjack Road will no longer turn south at Industrial Park Drive, but will continue west from that intersection to Ohio 661. The section to the west has been known as Blackjack Road Extension.

The section of road from the Blackjack/Industrial Park intersection will become part of Industrial Park Drive, at least as far south as the city limits. It will still be Blackjack Road after that point, as the Clinton Township Trustees have not requested that the county commissioners change the name.

Mayor Richard Mavis said the change should not come as a surprise, as it was approved by City Council in February and postcards reminding residents and businesses of the change have been sent out several times this year.

Street Department crews will erect new signs on Dec. 31.

“We’re not changing any numbers, just the names of the two sections of road,” Mavis said.
