MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Cantata Choir will be performing Joe Martin’s “Canticle of Joy” tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Memorial Theater. In its eighth year, the cantata is a “birthday party for Jesus” as “all the gifts of music will be given to him as a gift,” said director Lynn Jurkowitz.

“God gave us all gifts and we would like to give them to Jesus,” said Jurkowitz.

With 80 community members involved with the production, they have been rehearsing since mid-September with Jessica Overholt as the program’s accompanist.

An additional performance is Saturday at 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 for general admission seating and can be purchased at First-Knox National Bank.
