MOUNT VERNON — The inner workings within Knox Area Transit was the subject of a meeting when Knox County Jobs and Family Services Director Matthew Kurtz met with the Knox County Board of Commissioners on Monday morning. Kurtz gave an update on a procedural meeting last week with the Ohio Department of Transportation regarding services with Knox Area Transit which began operating as a part of KCJFS on Nov. 1.

The KAT board has contracted with Kurtz through a memorandum of understanding to have JFS personnel operate KAT. This agreement will carry through April 1 when it will fall under guidance of the county commissioners. ODOT is the funding stream for KAT and currently sets the rules and regulations.
