MOUNT VERNON — “I didn’t know the job of Animal Control Officer included wrangling pigs,” Dog Warden Jordan Barnard told the county commissioners Monday.

Barnard was making his first monthly report to the commissioners when he mentioned the incident.

He said they got a call that a pig was wandering around on the outskirts of Apple Valley. He and another officer went over and managed to get a leash on the 200-pound animal, while another officer headed for nearby farms to find the owner.

Barnard said once they got the leash on the pig, he just held on while it was dragging him around.
