MOUNT VERNON — Updates within various Knox County departments were shared Thursday morning when the Knox County Board of Commissioners met for a department head update. An update of the Emergency Notification System was given by Emergency Management Agency Director Mark Maxwell.

Maxwell announced that a test of the Emergency Notification System was conducted at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday countywide. A total of 26,289 voice calls was made notifying residents and businesses of the test and their options in signing up for various alerts. Of these calls, 1,217 were marked as getting a busy signal or no answer. There were also 886 text messages sent with 30 not receiving the notification.
