MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Educational Service Center school board on Wednesday said farewell to four-year member Ken Boeshart, and welcomed incoming member Suzanne MacLean, who was in attendance as an observer.

The board, with Boeshart abstaining, passed a resolution thanking Boeshart for his service.

“I have been very grateful for your support,” Superintendent Timm Mackley told Boeshart. Fellow board members also said they appreciated Boeshart’s contributions, and Boeshart replied, “I appreciate the opportunity to work with all of you.”

Besides approving routine fiscal actions, the board accepted a $450 donation from Ariel Corp. to be used for Life Skills curriculum in Candy Crawford’s classroom. It also approved a lease agreement for preschool space with the Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2014 for a yearly amount of $23,400, an increase of $6,400. Treasurer Heather Darnold said it is the first increase in at least five years. The board also renewed a gymnasium rental agreement with the YMCA for a physical education program at an annual cost of $1,000.
