MOUNT VERNON — Jedidiah H. Lang, 32, pleaded guilty today to the murder of Brad Grosscup, 52, in February of this year. Lang was sentenced to a term of 15 years to life.
Charges of felonious assault, tampering with evidence, gross abuse of a corpse and two counts of aggravated arson were dismissed by the prosecution in return for Lang’s guilty plea.
Lang had been scheduled to go on trial Nov. 12 for the death of Grosscup, whose body was found by Mount Vernon firefighters after a fire Feb. 14 at his apartment at 209 Shirley Ave.
Knox County Coroner Jennifer Ogle determined that Grosscup had died prior to the start of the fire and that death was due to asphyxia (choking) and blunt force trauma to the head.
