DANVILLE — In recognition of School Bus Safety Week, the Danville school board on Monday issued formal commendations to the district’s transportation department.
“It’s one of the toughest jobs in the district,” Superintendent Dan Harper said. The board passed a resolution extending special appreciation and gratitude to transportation director Charles Rex; bus drivers Barbara Banbury, Emily Beale, Philip Blubaugh, Rachel Miller, Marie Strouse, Chris Wright and David Workman; and substitute drivers Penny Blubaugh, Timothy Payne, Jeffrey Thompson and Janet Witmore.
During the public participation portion of the meeting, the board heard from FFA members Emily Hart, Gabrielle Hawkins and Porsha McCullough. They and teacher Alyssa Swinehart gave an update on club activities and competition results.
