CENTERBURG — In recognition of their dedication, service and commitment to the Centerburg schools and the Centerburg community in general, the Centerburg Board of Education on Monday passed a resolution to name the elementary school library the Leroy and Juanita Bumpus Learning Center. Leroy, who has served on the school board for 40 years, abstained from the vote. A formal dedication ceremony will be held at a later date.
The board also discussed and approved the five-year financial forecast. Treasurer Ellen Scott said the district has seen a slight increase in property tax revenues and the income tax revenues are “steady.” Also with regard to revenues, Scott said over the years there has been a drastic reduction in state funding for the district. She projects the state foundation amount will remain around $5 million, but cautioned, “It’s anybody’s guess as to what’s going on at the state level.”
