FREDERICKTOWN — The Fredericktown school board on Tuesday voted to reduce pay-to-participate fees for athletes, band members and cheerleaders, effective this school year. The previous fee schedule was $200 per high school participant and $140 for middle schoolers. The new fee will be $100 across the board. Individuals participating in two activities in the same season will pay only one fee. Those who paid fees for fall athletics and/or cheerleading will receive either a refund or a credit for the overage.
Superintendent Matt Chrispin said the change was recommended after a comparative study of the districts in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference and the district’s past and current collection efforts.
