UTICA — Four individuals were taken to hospitals following a two-car accident Monday afternoon on U.S. 62 southwest of Utica.
The Licking County Sheriff’s Office reported that at approximately 3:35 p.m., Ethan McNabb, 18, Johnstown, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 62 near Ohio 657 when he drifted left of center, striking a westbound Infinity, driven by Shaun Spence, also of Johnstown. Major damage was sustained to the Infinity as it flipped and rolled over, spinning to a stop.
Two juveniles, ages 6 and 9, were passengers in Spence’s vehicle, and both were taken to Children’s Hospital in Columbus. One was reported to be in serious condition. Spence was taken to an unknown hospital, and McNabb was transported to Grant Medical Center. U.S. 62 was closed for approximately three hours due to the severity of the crash and was re-opened prior to 8 p.m.
Alcohol and/or drugs nor excessive speed are not suspected to be involved in the crash which remains under investigation.
