MOUNT VERNON — Business will come to a close Monday, Sept. 30, at Body Basics Health and Fitness Club, 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, announced co-owner Steve Mullins.
Brothers Steve and Jim Mullins opened the health club in 2004 and have recently decided to close the business, citing financial reasons for their decision.
“I’ve been fighting every day to keep it open,” said Steve Mullins, saying that keeping up with taxes has been a constant struggle. Steve Mullins said the building is being sold to Brent Lasater, owner of Diller-Lasater Funeral Home, who was unable to be reached for further comment.
“I’m very happy for the Lasaters,” said Steve Mullins.
Those who currently have a membership at Body Basics have been informed of the closing and will be receiving a check equaling a refund of their advance payments. Equipment at the fitness center has been in the process of being sold. A few pieces of equipment still remain, and those interested in purchasing any pieces are encouraged to contact Mullins at Body Basics.
