FREDERICKTOWN — The village has taken a big step toward paying its share of the cost of constructing a bicycle path in the village, Mayor Alan Kintner reported.
He said the village has been awarded $60,000 in grants from the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon and Knox County. One grant of $30,000 came from the foundation’s regular grant fund, the other from a special fund.
With the $35,000 the village received last year from the Knox County Park District, the village has received $95,000 of the estimated village share of $108,000 for the bike path’s construction cost. An Ohio Department of Transportation grant will pay for 80 percent of the estimated $540,000 construction cost.
