GAMBIER — Knox County Sheriff Dave Shaffer addressed crime in the village during Monday night’s Gambier Village Council meeting.
“I ran the numbers that were reports the Sheriff’s Office had taken in the village for the last two months, and there were seven theft reports,” said Shaffer. He added that the types of break-ins reported are similar to those that happen in “the Apple Valley area” and around the county.
“It does not take very long to walk down the street and try cars until you find three or four open and just rifle them and generally that’s what happens,” noted Shaffer. He also said that the department ended up recovering the stolen vehicle “a few days later.”
