FREDERICKTOWN — Bidding was sometimes slow and sometimes more frenzied Saturday at the 26th annual Fredericktown Tomato Show Commemorative Plate Auction as auctioneer Red Shaw and his crew exhorted the potential buyers to keep bidding higher.
The 10 limited-edition plates were hand painted by artist Tammi Mowry. This year’s plate features Edwards Sheet Metal, which has been making culvert pipes since 1907. Fittingly, the family-owned company’s fourth generation representative, Hector Frazier, purchased Plate No. 4, and company president Dick Well and his wife, Chris, bought Plate No. 8.
