MOUNT VERNON — City Engineer Cameron Keaton said the contractor was finishing the installation of the new curbing on Pleasant Street Friday. With those in, the installation of sidewalks, driveways and the roadway base will proceed quickly. However, Keaton said, the street will be closed this weekend to allow time for the concrete that has been poured to “set up.”
Keaton also reported that the streets on this year’s paving list have been milled and paving should begin Monday, weather permitting. He expects the paving program to be completed by the end of next week.
The contract for the East Chestnut Street water and stormwater project has been awarded to Small’s Asphalt of Gambier. A preconstruction meeting will be held next week, but Keaton said he doesn’t expect to see activity on the project until the end of the month.
