CENTERBURG — Village Council spent much of Tuesday night’s monthly meeting discussing wastewater management in Centerburg. Atop the list was forward movement on the delayed bid process for construction of a new wastewater reclamation facility on Lock Road. Bids for the $3.5 million project were originally due on July 23 but have been pushed forward twice. A change to Aug. 29 came at the request of bidding companies, and the second to Sept. 17 was to align with the Ohio Water Development Authority’s calendar.
The latest timeline calls for a bid award in October, start of construction in November and completion in November of 2014. Demolition of the existing facility will extend into the spring of 2015. A construction administration contract of roughly $500,000 provides for Bird and Bull Inc. of Columbus to oversee construction and take the existing plant off-line. Long-term utility savings are projected through use of a solar energy array designed by Solar Planet Inc., which also equipped Centerburg High School.
