MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon’s newest police detective is Patrolman Tim Arnold, appointed recently to fill the vacancy left by the departure of Detective Craig Feeney.
Arnold is a 10-year veteran of the force. He began his new duties Aug. 26, and is rapidly learning the ropes and he finds the detail of all that happens intriguing.
“As a patrolman, you know the detectives do a lot,” he said. “But here you can see how little things grow. It’s been interesting so far.”
Acting chief Capt. George Hartz said eight officers showed interest in the detective position and all eight were interviewed.
“We couldn’t have made a wrong choice,” he said. “Arnold has been a good officer and I’m happy to see him get the opportunity to contribute to the department in other ways. He’s someone the community can be proud of.”
