MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon City Council suspended the rule requiring three readings for several pieces of legislation Monday night in an effort to expedite their adoption and addressed paving, the American National Can property and accounting changes on the current income tax levy.
Next year, the Ohio Department of Transportation will start its road resurfacing project of Granville Road from Granville to Ohio 13. One of the steps in that project will include Blackjack Road and Blackjack Road Extension from Ohio 13 to Granville Road. Council approved a measure that will allow the city to enter into a contract with ODOT for the work. The city will pay 20 percent of the cost. The project is expected to go out for bid in June 2014 and be completed by the end of the year.
