UTICA — Asbestos and hazardous waste abatements of the old Mill Street and Spring Street school buildings are complete, and waste removal and building demolition will begin in the very near future.
On Monday, mounds of discarded furniture lined the temporary fence erected around the Mill Street site. Hours Excavating, the company hired to do the demolition work, will take care of the scrap removal as part of the demolition contract.
“Those were old and broken chairs and things that were not fit to be moved to the new buildings,” said Superintendent Scott Hartley.
